The adirondack ottoman and footrest go back as far as the chair themselves. We designed the ottoman so that your legs simply flow over the footrest as though it was all one piece.
There is nothing like taking the weight off your legs. On most chairs, even though your sitting down, your legs are still holding up the weight of themselves.
What I suggest is that right from the beginning, get both the chair and the ottoman together. This way, your not ordering twice, for some something that you know your going to want in the beginning.
The ottoman, like the chair, is made from southern yellow pine. It has 2" x 6" lumber for supports, and ripped 1" x 6' lumber for the slats.
If you have adirondack chairs and needs custom ottomans built for them, please email me, and I can tell you what I can do. Before you email me, please be sure to measure how wide and how high the ottoman needs to be.
Building of custom ottomans and footrests is not a problem. Building of anything of custom is not a problem, it's a way of life for some.
